The ColdChainer Briefing
AATB Congress 26 is the annual meeting of the American Association of Tissue Banks, held 4-7 October 2026 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. AATB accredits US tissue banks and publishes the Standards for Tissue Banking, and the congress is where practice, regulation and those standards are worked through. Future editions are already scheduled for Montréal (2027), Las Vegas (2028) and Orlando (2029).
Human tissue for transplant is a cold-chain payload with unusually high stakes and no substitute unit: grafts are cryopreserved or refrigerated, moved between recovery agencies, processors and hospitals, and tracked end to end. This is where the storage-temperature, transport-validation and traceability requirements that govern that chain are set, alongside FDA expectations for tissue establishments.
Tissue bank and recovery-agency staff, processors, medical directors, quality and regulatory professionals, hospital transplant coordinators, and vendors supplying cryogenic storage, packaging, shipping and tracking to the tissue sector.
