AATB Congress 27

The annual meeting of the tissue-banking profession. Recovered human tissue is preserved and stored under controlled cryogenic and refrigerated conditions, so storage, transport and traceability standards run through the programme rather than sitting in a branded cold-chain track.

What it is

AATB Congress 27 is the annual meeting of the American Association of Tissue Banks, held in Montréal after the 2026 San Francisco edition. AATB accredits tissue banks and publishes the Standards for Tissue Banking; the congress is where practice, regulation and those standards are worked through. The 2027 programme has not yet been published.

Why it matters

Human tissue for transplant is a cold-chain payload with no substitute unit: grafts are cryopreserved or refrigerated, moved between recovery agencies, processors and hospitals, and tracked end to end. The storage-temperature, transport and traceability requirements for that chain are set and debated here.

Who you'll meet

Tissue bank and recovery-agency staff, processors, medical directors, quality and regulatory professionals, hospital transplant coordinators, and vendors supplying cryogenic storage, packaging, shipping and tracking to the tissue sector.
