The ColdChainer Briefing

What it is

IPPE is the combined annual expo of USPOULTRY, the American Feed Industry Association and the Meat Institute, running in its three-way form since the 2013 merger of the former International Poultry and Feed Expos. The 2027 edition occupies the Georgia World Congress Center with 1,100+ exhibitors across more than 615,000 sq ft, spanning the full poultry/meat/egg and animal-feed production and processing chain. Refrigeration, blast freezing, cold-storage, sanitation and packaging equipment sit alongside live-production, feed-milling and processing lines on the floor.

Why it matters

For a cold chain professional the relevance is downstream of processing: chilling, freezing, cold-storage design and temperature-controlled packaging of perishable protein are sourced and specced here, and the TECHTalks education program covers food safety, cold-storage automation and throughput. It is where meat and poultry processors evaluate refrigeration and freezing capex for the coming year. There is no dedicated cold-chain conference stream, so the value is in the exhibit floor and supplier meetings rather than a formal agenda.

Who you'll meet

Attendance runs to roughly 30,000 and skews to processors and integrators - plant engineering, operations, food safety/QA and procurement leaders from poultry, meat and egg companies, plus feed millers. Exhibitors are equipment OEMs and suppliers across refrigeration, freezing, packaging, sanitation and automation. International buyers attend, but the core audience is the North American protein industry.
